My Department has allocated a budget of €350,000 in 2024, for Urban Horse projects, of which, at present, there are eight live projects nationwide.
In October 2023, my Department hosted a seminar dedicated to the promotion of urban horse projects, nationwide. The seminar encouraged collaboration and the exchange of ideas and best practices, among local authorities and other stakeholders, with a view towards enabling more projects to be successfully established. It is anticipated that the seminar will lead to further requests from local authorities for the development of urban horse projects in their respective areas, or requests to fund currently unfunded urban horse projects.
The funding allocated in support of urban horse projects by my Department in 2024, to date, is set out in the table below:
2024 allocated funding(to date)
DSPCA | €1,987.25 |
---|---|
Longford County Council | €12,000.00 |
Sligo County Council | €15,000.00 |
Leitrim County Council | €12,500.00 |
