1074.To ask the Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government if he is aware of the serious financial impact the changes made to the enhanced home energy upgrade grant recently announced by the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications has on approved applicants with defective blocks; if he will discuss making necessary changes with the Minster for Environment, Climate and Communications to ensure the grant works for those applicants; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has engaged with the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications (DECC) in relation to the eligibility of DCB homeowners under the National Retrofitting Schemes run by Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI).
I can confirm that DECC has now introduced bespoke arrangements to assist DCB homeowners to access the existing SEAI energy efficiency retrofitting grant scheme as seamlessly as possible and on the same basis as other homeowners. SEAI has also undertaken a focused communications campaign in the affected region to maximise awareness and uptake.
Further details on these measures are available at the link(s) below:
My Department has no oversight of SEAI or their schemes, that is a matter for DECC. Any queries on the SEAI scheme should be addressed to a dedicated DCB phone number (01 8082004) provided by SEAI, or by email at .
