I propose to take Questions Nos. 1073 and 1210 together.
My Department builds its strategic water policy and infrastructure delivery programmes around the National Planning Framework and the National Development Plan (NDP).
Uisce éireann is the national utility and the primary provider of water and waste water services. State investment in water services in Ireland is provided for in the NDP and, in practice, is primarily delivered by Uisce éireann.
Information on connecting to the public network is available at the following link: .
My Department does provide funding under the Rural Water Programme to support the Rural Water Sector. A key objective of the Programme is to improve the quality, reliability and efficiency of water services for rural dwellers where public water services are not available.
Under the Programme funding is available, through local authorities, for:
- Individual water supplies.
- New Group Water Schemes or extensions to existing schemes.
- Community Water Connections.
The officer can be contacted at the Rural Water Section of the relevant local authority, in this case Mayo County Council.
