I propose to take Questions Nos. 995 and 997 together.
The first allocations under the Large Scale Sport Infrastructure Fund (LSSIF) were announced in January 2020 with €86.4 million subsequently awarded to 33 different projects. On 6 December 2023, Minister Martin and I announced additional funding of €37.6 million to 27 existing LSSIF projects, bringing the total awarded to date to LSSIF projects to €124 million. The additional funding for projects was provided in response to delays experienced by grantees arising from the pandemic and construction inflation.
Since June 2023, the Linear Walkway and Playing Fields Project in Meath, Phase 1 of Walsh Park in Waterford, the Regional Athletics Hub in Limerick, Dundalk Leisure Centre facilities refurbishment in Louth and the MTU Athletics Track (Phase 2) in Cork have all opened to the public.
A number of other LSSIF projects are due to be completed this year or significantly progressed. For example, Connacht Rugby has commenced work on its new High-Performance Centre and North Stand, while the redevelopment of Kildare GAA's St Conleth's Park, which will include a new 3,000 seat stand, is due for completion in the coming months.
€9.354 million has been drawn down by grantees under LSSIF, with this figure set to increase significantly before the end-2024 as more projects commence work. A number of other projects are also currently finalising due diligence procedures and hope to commence work in the next 6-12 months.
A full list of grant allocations to projects to date is provided in the following table:

On 26 April 2024, Minister Martin and I announced funding of up to €120 million under a new round of the LSSIF. The deadline for submitting applications closed on 1 July and the initial assessment of applications is now underway. It is clear that this round of the LSSIF has generated significantly more applications and a much higher volume of demand than the first round.
A total of 96 applications has been received with an overall funding demand of more than €600 million
and it is intended to publish information on the applications received in the coming weeks, including the ranking preference applied to applications by Local Authorities or by National Governing Bodies of Sport.
