As Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs, I have regular meetings with EU Heads of Mission, including in a group format. The most recent meeting took place on 12 June, to mark the end of the Belgian Presidency of the EU, and was a productive and useful discussion. As two Atlantic-facing countries on the west of Europe with centuries-old cultural and commercial ties, histories of emigration and economic recovery, and a strong commitment to European cooperation and multilateralism, Ireland and Portugal share many values and enjoy warm relations.
