65. To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if his Department and each body and agency under the remit of his Department has achieved the Government-mandated public sector remote working target of 20%; when this was achieved in each instance; the current percentage of staff working remotely; and if he will make a statement on the matter. You will be aware that the Programme for Government contains a commitment to mandating public sector employers to move to 20% home and remote working. In this context, my Department, in collaboration with Civil Service employers, Trade Unions and Staff Associations, developed a Blended Working Policy Framework for Civil Service Organisations which was published in March 2022. The Framework focuses on the longer-term approach to remote working in the Civil Service and has also been shared with Public Service employers with a view to providing a consistent approach across the wider public service. This is a key step taken by my Department in this important area to support the long- term implementation of blended working options for Civil Servants.
Specific details are provided in the table below.
Public Body | The current percentage of staff working remotely part of the week |
---|---|
Department of Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform | 82% |
National Shared Services Office | 96% |
Office of the Ombudsman | 97% |
Public Appointments Service | 98% |
State Laboratory | 60% |
OPW (Established Staff) | 58% |
