The improvement and maintenance of regional and local roads is the statutory responsibility of each local authority. Works on those roads are funded from local authorities' own resources supplemented by State grants, where applicable.

Kildare County Council has confirmed to the Department that the pedestrian and cyclist facilities which were included in the contract for the Sallins Bypass scheme are complete. As regards any additional pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, this would be a matter for consideration by the Council.
