There are a range of ex-service associations, including comrades associations, officer and enlisted personnel associations.

My Department formally recognises two veterans’ associations, O.N.E (Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann - Organisation of National Ex-Service men and Women) and IUNVA (Irish United Nations Veterans Association).

These associations represent all former Defence Forces personnel irrespective of rank. My Department provides funding to both associations and there are no plans to formally recognise other veterans' organisations.
