3. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence if a person born on a certain date (details supplied) is eligible for the latest round of recruitment for the Defence Forces; the policy in relation to age; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2748/20]

For General Service recruitment the candidate must be between 18 and 25 years of age at the time of application. As there is ongoing General Service recruitment the individual will be eligible to apply at any time in 2020 on or after their 18th birthday. 

For the 2020 Cadetships, a candidate must be 18 years of age or above and under 26 years of age on 1 September 2020. Where a candidate at the time of application, has not reached 18 years of age, the prior consent of the candidate's parents or guardian, or other person in loco parentis, will be required.
