To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the number of dairy cows with no recorded births in each of the years 2017, 2018 and to date in 2019 but remain in lactation cycle for those years; the milk yield in litres of such dairy cows; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department does not hold records of milk yield in dairy cows. Furthermore, this Department does not hold records of the date of drying off of cows, and therefore is not in a position to say whether an animal is in lactation at a point in time.

Information relating to the birth records of dairy cows for the years 2017, 2018 and 2019 to date is being collated from the Department's AIM system and will be provided to the Deputy as soon as possible.
