426. To ask the Minister for Health the status of the recruitment of a sarcoma specialist for a hospital (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [49289/18]

Following the advertisement of a post of Consultant Oncologist with a special interest in Sarcoma, a successful candidate was identified and an offer of appointment was made. However, the hospital has been advised that the person involved is not in a position to take up the post until summer 2019.
Meanwhile, specialist care of patients with sarcoma will continue to be provided through a multi-disciplinary team approach.
