66. To ask the Taoiseach and Minister for Defence if the recent decision of An Bord Pleanála to approve the development of a commercial incinerator at Ringaskiddy, County Cork has implications for the operations at the naval base in Haulbowline in view of the planning objection lodged by his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. On foot of consultation with both the Naval Service and Air Corps, my Department made a number of observations to the public hearings regarding the proposed Waste to Energy Facility at Ringaskiddy, Co Cork.
It is understood that the issues raised and observations made have been taken into account by An Bord Pleanála. My Department will consider in detail the decision, in consultation with the Naval Service and the Air Corps, and its possible impact on Defence Force operations at Haulbowline.
