663. To ask the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the reason some personnel who participated in the 1916 centenary commemorations were not recipients of commemorative medals in view of the fact their colleagues in other front-line emergency services were awarded such medals; her plans to rectify this anomaly; and if she will make a statement on the matter. 664. To ask the Minister for Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht the criteria regarding the award of commemorative medals for front-line emergency service providers; the reasons all such personnel were not considered for inclusion in this programme to mark their contribution to the centenary commemorations; and if she will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 663 and 664 together.

The presentation of medals for participation in the 1916 centenary commemorations was a matter for the services concerned and/or their sponsoring Departments. My Department had no role in relation to the decisions of the relevant emergency service providers.
