My Department's €240 million European Maritime and Fisheries Fund Operational Programme is the vehicle for financial supports to the seafood sector up to 2021. The Programme delivers a wide range of supports for aquaculture, fisheries and seafood processing through a suite of 15 schemes including the Inshore Fisheries Conservation Scheme.

The Inshore Fisheries Conservation Scheme supports implementation of the Small Scale Coastal Fisheries Action Plan to support the economic, social and environmental sustainability of inshore fishing. The Scheme operates on a National basis, so no budgets are allocated by county. The table below outlines the annual budget, the expenditure and number of beneficiaries.

-Annual BudgetExpenditureNumber of beneficiaries
2016€1,000,000€335,59864
2017€1,000,000€372,21057
The budget allocation for 2018 has not yet been finalised with BIM.

The information requested in relation to the number of scheme participants each year by county and the expenditure by county is being collated and will be forwarded to the Deputy separately.
