243. To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine the number of applications received for the hen harrier scheme by county. [2657/18]

I am pleased that the response to the new locally-led Hen Harrier Programme has been so positive with more than nine hundred applications received already. This level of response shows that that farmers in the targeted designated areas welcome this scheme and I am glad that the information events organised and delivered by the Hen Harrier Team to farmers have generated such interest. This scheme, along with the supports already available through GLAS for farmers with hen-harrier habitat, will further the conservation of the bird as well as providing an important additional income stream for farmers in designated areas
The operation of the scheme is managed by the Hen Harrier Project Team and they have advised that the number of applications per county to date are:
