To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice and Equality the status of the review of the decision making process in respect of applications for extension or change of status for those seeking leave to remain in the State; the expected timescale for the completion of this review, in view of the judgment in a case (details supplied); and if she will make a statement on the matter. In light of the Court of Appeal judgment in the case referred to by the Deputy, the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) of my Department, in reviewing the judgment and in conjunction with the Offices of the Attorney General, has made an application for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court.

In the meantime, it can be taken that all current requests for permission in respect of extension of student conditions or requests to renew or vary a permission will be determined within the immigration legislation and published student guidelines.
