I propose to take Questions Nos. 623, 625 and 626 together.

IDA Ireland’s official employment figures are drawn from an employment survey conducted by my Department on an annual basis. The following table (A) provides a breakdown of the number of jobs created and lost in IDA Ireland client companies in the South East from 2008 to 2015. The figures for 2016 will be available early in 2017 when the next survey is completed.

A list of all project announcements and associated job numbers from 2008 to date is contained in table (B). It should be noted that not all companies agree to announce their investments. As a result, the list does not necessarily accurately reflect the level of investments won or the performance of FDI in a particular year.

It is also important to note that jobs announced are typically created over a period of between three and five years depending on a company’s particular business plan. It is also the case that the number of jobs created is sometimes greater or less than originally anticipated. IDA Ireland therefore does not monitor, in every instance, the precise level of employment delivered as part of initial job announcements.
