My Department has played an active role in promoting the use of Eircodes. It encourages all customers to insert their Eircodes in a designated space on all applications, which in turn are captured on the Department’s central customer database. This will more accurately identify the postal address of customers, thereby decreasing the risk of non-delivery of mail due to incorrect or inaccurate addresses and facilitating the location of specific addresses by Department officers.

The operation of the Eircode system by agencies under my Department’s remit is an operational matter for the agencies concerned.
