In November 2015 an application by Galway County Council (GCC) for funding of €247,870 was approved under the Office of Public Works (OPW) Minor Flood Mitigation Works and Coastal Protection Scheme for a project in Kiltiernan/Ballinderren, Co Galway. This was approved on the basis that GCC sourced the additional funding required for the project.

The progression of a minor works project is a matter for the local authority in question. I am advised that GCC have sourced additional funding to undertake works on this project and the Council is now considering how to progress the works having regard to the currently applicable environmental assessment requirements.
