Following on from the National Heritage Plan 2002-2007, my Department’s responsibilities for the development of policies for the protection and promotion of our built and natural heritage has been actively concentrated on various ongoing policy developments responding to the range of challenges for each of the sectorial areas within my overall Heritage remit. My Department has no specific plans at this stage to develop an overall heritage plan updating the National Heritage Plan of 2002-2007. However, the need for a new plan will be kept under review within the overall context of policy development and prioritisation.
