My Department’s local authority housing programme and the Capital Assistance Scheme provide capital funding to local authorities to increase their supply of social housing stock through the construction and acquisition of houses and apartments. Social housing is also delivered through a range of other mechanisms, including returning void units to use, leasing, the Rental Accommodation Scheme and the Housing Assistance Payment.

Information in relation to social housing units constructed and acquired by local authorities is published on my Department’s website at the following link: . Information in relation to the delivery of units under local authority housing programmes is available under the heading “LA hsg output commenced (1994+)” and the Capital Assistance Scheme under the heading “Vol & Co-op housing”.
