164. To ask the Minister for Health to set out his plans to enable children with Down's syndrome to have their condition registered at birth; if consideration has been given to the benefit which this measure may yield, particularly for the future provision of resource teaching hours and educational support, for these children; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The Minister for Health has no such plans. The registration of births, deaths and marriages is a matter for the Minister for Social Protection. The provision of educational supports to people with a disability is a matter for the Minister for Education and Skills.
