To ask the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform if his attention has been drawn to any studies and surveys carried out in County Cork in 2012 by officials from his Department or bodies under the aegis of his Department into the risk of river flooding and sea incursions in estuaries and other low lying areas; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I am advised that the following flooding related studies and surveys were carried out or underway in 2012 by or on behalf of the Office of Public Works relevant to Co. Cork

South West Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management project (CFRAM) | Detailed assessment of flood risk and management options in the South West region including 16 areas in Co. Cork some of which are subject to both river and tidal flooding for example, Carrigaline, Bantry, Durrus, Clonakilty |
Bandon Flood Relief Scheme | Feasibility Study Environmental Impact Statement |
Baile Mhic Ire - proposed flood relief scheme | Engineering Study Cross Section Survey |
Skibbereen - proposed flood relief scheme | Flood risk assessment studies and surveys related to this scheme undertaken or commissioned by Cork Co. Council as agents of the OPW - river and tidal flood risk present. |
Lee CFRAM | Finalisation of work on the Lee CFRAM assessing flood risk and mitigation options for Cork city and harbour |
Flood data gathering inspections/surveys | Inspections of areas that flooded badly in Summer 2012 including Glanmire, Clonakilty, Blackpool., |
Other studies and surveys related to flooding in Co. Cork would have been carried out or commissioned in 2012 by Cork Co. Council and the Council can be contacted directly about this.
