The Deputy will be aware that the Commissioner is responsible for the detailed allocation of resources, including personnel, throughout the organisation and I have no direct function in the matter. This allocation of resources is constantly monitored in the context of crime trends, policing needs and other operational strategies in place on a District, Divisional and Regional level to ensure optimum use is made of Garda resources and the best possible Garda service is provided to the public.

Waterville Garda Station forms part of the Caherciveen Garda District in the Kerry Garda Division. The personnel strength of Caherciveen Garda District and Kerry Garda Division on 31 October, 2012, the latest date for which figures are readily available, was 37 and 299 respectively. There are also 26 Garda Reservists and 32 Civilians attached to the Kerry Garda Division.

Local Garda Management is aware of the retirement of the Garda attached to Waterville Garda Station. Arrangements have been put in place by local Garda Management for patrols to be conducted in the area concerned by personnel attached to Caherciveen Garda Station and surrounding sub-stations.
