Question 260: To ask the Minister for Justice and Equality further to Parliamentary Question No. 393 of 10 July 2012, the education and training that will be provided in Sligo to a person (details supplied), in view of the fact that they will have to forego a place in Dublin and if transferring a person in these circumstances is proportional and necessary; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The full details of this case are as explained in my answer to Parliamentary Question No. 393 of 10 July 2012. Given the extent of the advance notice provided to the person concerned that she was to be dispersed outside Dublin, the stated intention of RIA to transfer her to Sligo in August is a proportional action. It has been open to this person, in conjunction with the Dun Laoghaire Refugee Project (DRP) which is sponsoring her place in a two year Social Care course in Inchicore College to begin in September, to explore the possibility of alternative similar education courses in the Sligo area in the new school year.
Since my response of 10 July, 2012, further medical representations have been received in this case and have been referred by RIA to the independent medical referee for his opinion. The matter will be considered further when his opinion is to hand.
