Question 167: To ask the Minister for Education and Skills when the planning application for the construction of a school (details supplied) in County Tipperary will be lodged having regard to the fact that the application was to be lodged within two years of the transfer of the site; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As the Deputy will be aware, it is intended to deliver a 16 classroom school on this site which will involve the construction of an extension and the reuse of part of the existing listed building. As the existing building is listed, a Declaration under Section 57 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 is required. A declaration under Section 57 indicates what work a planning authority considers will not materially affect the character of a structure.

My officials have requested such a declaration from the planning authority and I understand that it is currently being prepared by the planning authority. When this declaration has been received, my Department will then be in a position to finalise the proposed planning application for the project and submit it, along with the other heritage reports which the planning authority has requested in pre-planning discussions with my officials.
