Question 434: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the amount of funding allocated by him to fund homelessness statutory and voluntary services for County Meath in 2011; if he will provide a breakdown of funds allocated to all statutory and voluntary services in County Meath providing services for persons who are homeless, or at risk of becoming homeless including any funds allocated to Meath County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 434 and 435 together.

Statutory responsibility in relation to the provision of accommodation for homeless persons rests with the housing authorities and the purposes for which housing authorities may incur expenditure in addressing homelessness are prescribed in Section 10 of the Housing Act 1988. Information in respect of funding provided under Section 10 for the Meath County Council area is set out in the following Table. Funding is provided at the rate of 90% of cost with the housing authorities providing a further 10% from their own resources.
