Question 432: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government the amount of funding allocated by him to fund homelessness statutory and voluntary services for County Louth in 2010; if he will provide a breakdown of funds allocated to all statutory and voluntary services in County Louth providing services for persons who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless including any funds allocated to Louth County Council; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I propose to take Questions Nos. 432 and 433 together.

Statutory responsibility in relation to the provision of accommodation for homeless persons rests with the housing authorities and the purposes for which housing authorities may incur expenditure in addressing homelessness are prescribed in Section 10 of the Housing Act 1988. Information in respect of funding provided under Section 10 for the Louth County Council area is set out in the Table below. Funding is provided at the rate of 90% of cost with the housing authorities providing a further 10% from their own resources.
