The provision of Garda CCTV systems is undertaken by the Garda Commissioner on the basis of his identified operational needs and requirements. I have no direct function in this area and I have not received the request referred to by the Deputy.

The Deputy will recall that in my reply to Question No. 23 on 20th June 2012 I indicated to him that the Garda authorities are considering the question of extending the current Garda CCTV system in operation in Finglas. This reflects the on-going position and the Garda authorities have confirmed that the matter will be pursued in the light of the overall policing arrangements for Finglas and the availability of resources.
