I am advised by the Garda authorities that Garda vehicles are purchased having regard to a range of criteria depending on the type of vehicle being purchased and the operational requirements for the vehicles concerned. Vehicles are required to meet the highest safety standards and have the technical and physical capacity for police work. Other criteria include cost, fuel type and emissions.
