I propose to take Questions Nos. 474 and 475 together.

My Department and the Offices that come under the aegis of my Department have carried out the following advertising campaigns, during the course of 2010, to promote policies or programmes being implemented by my Department or the Offices of my Department.

Name of the Advertising Campaign/ ProgrammeTotal Cost (€)
Labour Market Activation Fund€6,214
Annual Company Filing Dates – (CRO)€15,056
Contact details for Information Service – (NERA)€2,820

Advertising undertaken by my Department and the Offices of my Department typically includes advisory or information notices for industry, employers, employees and members of the public. Although much of this material is now placed on the Department's/Offices website(s), a certain amount of advertising still continues to be necessary in order to reach all of our customers, particularly in relation to important company, legislative and employment services. In addition, there is also an obligation on the Department to insert notices in Iris Oifigiúil in respect of Statutory Instruments.

The total spend of my Department and the Offices of my Department on public advertisements in national and local print media, publications, broadcast advertising and outdoor advertising for 2010 was in the region of €136,000. Statutory requirements accounted for approximately 92% of this overall spend. No additional monies were expended on consultancy or production costs associated with these public advertisements.

I am not in a position to provide information on this matter in relation to the Agencies of my Department, as this is a day-to-day matter for the Agencies concerned.
