Question 135: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the length of time it takes to process a work permit application for a non-Irish national to work here; if it is refused, the length of time it takes to process an appeal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Employment permit applications are currently taking 2 to 12 weeks to process depending on the permit type and the Appeals Officer is examining appeals received in the week commencing 30th November 2009.

The Employment Permits Section informs me that it is reducing this backlog.
