Question 33: To ask the Minister for Finance when he envisages the establishment of the Central Bank Commission, announced in February 2009; if he will engage in consultation in this regard with all stakeholders, both inside and outside the banking sector; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I expect that a bill providing for the establishment of the Central Bank Commission will be published early in the new-year and its enactment and implementation will follow as speedily as the legislative process allows. Once published, it will be open to anyone to comment on the proposals. However, consultation with the key stakeholders on the main issues associated with changes in regulatory structures is already underway and includes representatives of the financial services industry and consumer interests.
