The supplementary welfare allowance scheme, which includes mortgage interest supplement, is administered on behalf of the Department by the community welfare service of the Health Service Executive.
The person concerned was awarded a reduced rate of mortgage interest supplement based on the interest paid on his original loan application relating to his primary residence. He appealed against this decision to an Appeals Officer of the Executive but this appeal was unsuccessful. The Executive has advised that the person concerned has now appealed this decision to the Social Welfare Appeals Office (SWAO). This office will be in contact with person concerned when a decision has been made on his appeal.
