Question 85: To ask the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the number of persons working on temporary contracts in respect of his Department and each of the State agencies or boards for which he has responsibility; the number of such contracts that are due to expire by the end of 2009; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department and The Office of the Commission of Charitable Bequests and Donations employs 19.5 people on temporary contracts and 7.9 of these contracts are due to expire in 2009.

With regard to State agencies and boards that are under the remit of my Department I have been informed that:

Waterways Ireland has seven people employed on temporary contracts and all seven contracts are due to expire in 2009;

Foras na Gaeilge employs three people on temporary contracts none of which are due to expire in 2009;

The Ulster Scots Agency employs three people on temporary contracts none of which are due to expire in 2009;

Western Development Commission has 5 people employed on a temporary contract one of which is due to expire in 2009; and

Údarás na Gaeltachta has seven people employed on a temporary contracts and six are due to expire in 2009.
