Question 242: To ask the Minister for Defence if he has completed his list of information obligations which their regulations impose on businesses; if so, the obligations involved; if not, when such a list will be finalised; if the most burdensome obligations, the regulations that they impose and the costs on businesses have been identified; if these costs, as they apply to businesses, have been measured; or if this aspect of the project has not been completed, the date by which this will be done; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department is currently compiling the list of information obligations and this will be completed by the end of November 2008. On completion of the list the areas which impose the biggest burden on businesses, if any, will be prioritised. Until the list is complete I am unable to give a timeframe on the measurement of the cost of these burdens or the proposals to reduce the burdens, if any, to be made, as at this point in time their nature and complexity is not known. However the Department will be adhering to the timeframe laid down by the Dept of Enterprise, Trade and Employment in relation to this.
