Question 517: To ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government his views on the introduction of water metering by local authorities for domestic users, similar to the policy being implemented with regard to non-domestic users; if he is currently considering proposals for the introduction of same; his plans to implement such a policy; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Government policy, as confirmed by legislation, specifically precludes charging for water services supplied to households for ordinary domestic purposes. Accordingly I have no plans to introduce metering of domestic connections.
