Question 833: To ask the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he will establish with the office of the Attorney General whether a European arrest warrant has been received from the Italian authorities in respect of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8; the status of the warrant; when it will be passed to the Garda Síochána to be executed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Under the provisions of the European Arrest Warrant Act 2003, as amended, where a judicial authority in a Member State of the European Union duly issues a European Arrest Warrant, the European Arrest Warrant shall be transmitted by, or on behalf of, the issuing judicial authority to the Central Authority in the State. The Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform is the Central Authority in the State for the purposes of the 2003 Act.

I wish to inform the Deputy that it is not the practice of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform to confirm or deny the receipt of a European Arrest Warrant for the surrender of a person to another Member State of the European Union.
