Question 817: To ask the Minister for Defence if his Department receives a daily summary of stories relevant to his Department from Government Information Services; if this summary is in written, verbal or electronic format; if these are furnished to a departmental press officer or press adviser; and if the press officer or adviser furnishes this information to him every day or how often it is furnished. Both my Press Advisor and the Departmental Press Officer receive text messages throughout the day, Monday to Friday inclusive, from the Government Information Services (GIS) which summarise the headlines of the daily national newspapers and the main news bulletins. In addition, throughout the course of the day they also receive regular emails from the GIS outlining the main news headlines. This information is circulated to myself and officials within my Department as often as it is considered necessary.
