Under the Housing Management Initiative, local authorities have been given direct control, from 1 January 2007, of their improvement works programmes, to be funded in the first instance from their internal capital receipts received from the sale of local authority dwellings. While my Department approves the general programme, it is the responsibility of the local authority to prioritise and advance individual projects. In this case specific approval was given to Kildare County Council to use €50,000 from Internal Capital Receipts to prepare a community profile and master plan for the estate in question. My Department has received no proposals as yet on the plans for the regeneration of the estate.
