Question 388: To ask the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food her plans to re-introduce the farm waste management scheme that was suspended or withdrawn on 31 October 2007 as many farmers had preliminary work done in anticipation of grant aid; and her proposals in relation to farmers who find they can not bring their farmyards up to standard due to the suspension of the scheme. Applications received under the Farm Improvement Scheme prior to its suspension on 31 October 2007 will be processed by my Department up to the level of funding available for the Scheme. I had indicated, at the time of the launch of the Scheme, that it would be terminated when the financial ceiling provided for the Scheme in the 2006 partnership agreement, Towards 2016, had been reached. I have no plans to reopen the Scheme prior to the review in 2008 of the terms of Towards 2016 as provided for in that agreement.
