I am informed by the Garda authorities that on 22 July, 2006 a call was received at the Emergency Services Control Centre, indicating that there was a man trapped in the tower at Waterford Regional Airport. A fire alarm was sounding in the background. The Gardaí and other emergency services responded to the call, attended at the scene and satisfied themselves there was neither a man trapped, nor a fire at the location.

Later that day a call was received to attend a house in Ferrybank, where a body had been found by family members. Gardaí attended the scene and it was apparent that a fire had occurred. A local doctor also attended the scene and the body of the person was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital.

An investigation file was prepared for the Coroner and the matter is subject to a Coroner's Inquest.

The Garda Síochána are preparing a report on the other information requested by the Deputy. I will contact the Deputy as soon as it is to hand.
