Question 102: To ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of birth certificates currently in the possession of his Department due to applications for permission to remain in the State; and the rationale for not returning the birth certificates to the people involved. It was administrative practice in such cases not to return birth certificates to applicants. The information requested by the Deputy is not readily available and could only be obtained by a disproportionate expenditure of time and resources.
