Question 239: To ask the Minister for Transport the amount of funding provided to local authorities in each of the past three years for school traffic wardens; the number of wardens by each local authority in each of these years; and the amount of funding set aside in 2007 for school traffic wardens. The engagement of school traffic wardens to patrol places where school children cross public roads and the funding of the service is a matter for each local authority. I have no role in local matters of this nature and there are no statistics in my Department in relation to the number of persons appointed in this service or in relation to the annual budgets concerned.

The compilation of statistics in relation to the number of personnel employed by each local authority across all grades and details of the annual revenue income and expenditure in respect of each local authority is a matter for the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
