I propose to take Questions Nos. 430 and 432 together.

Under the social partnership agreement Towards 2016, a National Housing Strategy for People with Disabilities will be developed, as recommended in the NESC-Housing in Ireland report, in order to support the provision of tailored housing and housing support to people with disabilities. This would have particular regard to adults with significant disabilities and people who experience mental illness and will be progressed through the establishment of a national group under the aegis of the Housing Forum, which is currently being reconstituted by my Department.

Under the Department's Capital Assistance Scheme, which is administered by local authorities, funding is made available to approved voluntary housing bodies providing accommodation to meet special housing needs such as the elderly, homeless or persons with disabilities.

In addition, the Department recoups to local authorities 90% of their current expenditure on accommodation related costs in respect of homeless persons including, where appropriate, persons with mental illness.
