Supply contracts for my Department's energy requirements are negotiated by the Office of Public Works through the Government Supplies Agency. Electricity supplies are provided by the Electricity Supply Board and Energia Ltd. Natural gas is supplied by Bord Gáis and liquefied petroleum gas by Calor Gas Ltd., while heating oil is supplied by Texaco (Irl) Ltd.

For the 2005 year the costs of these supplies were as follows:

Electricity
Energia369,342
ESB1,197,256
Total 1,566,598
Gas
Bord Gáis261,926
Calor2,089
Total264,015
Oil
Texaco141,727

Responsibility for a technical audit of the Department's energy usage would be a matter for the Office of Public Works.
