Question 142: To ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment the progress that has been made to date in the recruitment of the additional five rights commissioners for the Labour Relations Commission, as promised in Towards 2016; when he expects that they will take up their duties; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Towards 2016 contains, inter alia, a commitment by the Government to increase the staffing resources of the Employment Rights Bodies generally in order to accelerate the processing of cases through the adjudication and redress system. Included in this section is a commitment that an additional 5 Rights Commissioners will be provided, increasing, as necessary, in line with the Commissioners' caseload.
The Department is currently actively engaging with the Department of Finance to settle the additional staff resources required to meet the above commitments.
