The Parish of Kanturk, on behalf of the school's Patron, is currently engaged in identifying and acquiring a suitable site for the purpose of constructing a new primary school in the town. An assessment of the long term projected staffing, on which the schools accommodation needs are based is currently underway in School Planning Section of my Department.
This assessment will take into account factors such as current and projected enrolment, existing primary provision in the general area and the likely impact of ongoing and proposed housing developments. Once this assessment is complete, the building project required to meet the schools long term accommodation needs will be considered in the context of the School Building and Modernisation Programme 2006-2010.
