Question 158: To ask the Minister for Education and Science if her attention has been drawn to the difficulties encountered by a person (details supplied) in County Sligo in relation to the school transport: if she will intervene on their behalf to ensure that the free travel is sanctioned to the school; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Under the terms of my Department's Primary School Transport Scheme pupils who reside 3.2 kilometres or more, and are attending, their nearest suitable national school, as determined by my Department, are eligible for free school transport.
The pupil referred to by the Deputy, in the details supplied, does not meet these eligibility criteria.
