As stated in my reply to Parliamentary Question 328 of 9 May 2006, current arrangements for the appointment by the PSNI of members of the Garda Síochána on secondment do not provide for the secondment of members at Garda rank. I have no plans to seek the alteration of these arrangements at this time. I will, however, give fullest consideration to any proposals that the Garda Commissioner may wish to put to me in the matter.
